Since the SLT requires a week or more to obtain the result, a quicker load testing method (DLT) sometimes is applied which is based on stress-wave theory. – Using this method, around 4 piles could be tested perday. However, the results of this testing method have to be calibrated to the result of SLT of a pile near to the pile tested by this DLT method for increasing its accuracy.
  Application of this DLT requires a drop hammer with a minimum weight 2% of the design ultimate load capacity of pile to be dropped on the surface of pilehead to generate the stress-wave which is then recorded and calculated by a computer.
